Key Club collectes 1,652 pounds of food

The Kent Meridian Key Clubbers are thinking of others -- again! On Friday evening, November 20th, seven Key Clubbers from Kent Meridian HS embarked on a mission to help fill the shelves at the Kent Food Bank. With the help of their advisors -- Henrik Sortun and Michele Campbell -- they withstood some very cold, drizzly weather to solicit donations at Top Foods and Safeway on Kent's East Hill. While the weather was cold -- hearts were warmed by the generosity of the donors -- and the efforts of the Key Clubbers.

Prepared with lists of the most-needed items, the Key Clubbers asked shoppers to consider purchasing extra food items for donation to the Food Bank, and were delighted when their efforts resulted in more than 12 full-sized shopping carts and two large tubs FULL of food. (In fact, the food donations filled two cars from stem to stearn -- seats and trunks to capacity!) Additionally, very generous shoppers donated more than $150 in cash, which will help the food bank purchase additional needs for the families they serve.

Another food drive activity is planned for early December, in hopes of providing more holiday cheer for those less fortunate! Congratulations to the Kent Meridian Key Club for their efforts!! (Please note: the photo shows only a portion of the donations collected at Top Foods.)
